UBC022 - Louie Syred

Dopamine, Entrepreneurship and neurodivergence.

Louie is a second-time founder, creative director, and brand strategist, building a new category of beverages with Peak Moods. He envisions Peak becoming to mood drinks what Red Bull is to energy drinks, with a mission to fuel creativity and bring mental wellness.

Louie started his career as an early content creator for MTV UK, working closely with youth and creative media - and before founding Peak, he spent four years in the CBD industry as a co-founder.

In this conversation, we dive into the role of nootropics, and the science behind dopamine’s influence on motivation and behaviour, all of which has led Louie to launching his mood drinks business. We touch on the intersection of neurodiversity and entrepreneurship, exploring how different brain types can lead to innovative ideas and leadership styles.

We discuss the oddities of language in our industry, and the different ways people use interpret words like ‘entrepreneur’, and ‘creativity’. With insights into mindfulness, adaptability and career paths, we managed to cover a whole lot of ground.

Derek introduced us to Louie a few weeks ago, and when we spoke we hit it off straight away. We felt a similar energy to the conversation we had with Derek, and Mark didn’t hold back asking Louie in our first meeting if he wanted to join us in one of our recorded conversations, and Louie didn’t hold back in saying “YES”.

Most of our conversations have been with people we’ve known for some time but this one was an impulsive ask that most definitely paid off. If you’ve listened to any of our other conversations you’ll know that we believe in serendipity, spontaneity and taking risks. Let this conversation serve as a testament to those principles.

Enjoy.

Unorthodox Blend Conversations
An unorthodox blend of disciplines and undisciplines. This is how we used to talk about Rosie Lee. In all honesty, we don’t fully know what it means but I think that's why we love it so much.
