Spotify just announced a new feature that lets you design and customise your own playlist cover art directly in the app. While you’ve been able to upload custom images for playlists before, this update now lets you create your own designs right there in the app.
It’s currently rolling out in beta on the mobile app for iOS and Android, across 65 markets, and is available to both free and premium users.
To give it a go, just select a playlist, hit the three-dot menu, and choose "Create cover art." From there, you can upload a photo or start with a blank canvas, then play around with text styles, colours, effects, backgrounds, gradients, and stickers. Keep in mind, you can only save one custom cover per playlist at a time, so if you create a new one, it’ll replace the previous cover unless you’ve saved it first.
It might not be a huge change, but it’s a fun way to make your playlists more personal. Spotify’s been on a roll lately with customisation options, like testing personalised playlists based on written prompts. It’s just another way they’re keeping things fresh as they go up against Apple Music and YouTube Music.
