Oakley designs first-ever Space Visor for next Lunar Mission
Protective visors for NASA’s 2027 Artemis III moon landing.
After decades of outfitting Earth’s top athletes, Our friends at Oakley are heading to space. The brand has partnered with Axiom Space to co-develop a cutting-edge space visor for astronauts on NASA’s Artemis III mission — the first crewed lunar landing in over 50 years.
Designed to combat intense UV exposure and abrasive lunar dust, the Oakley visor will be worn by astronauts as they explore the moon’s harsh surface in 2027. “We need an exceptional visor system to protect our eyes and offer maximum visibility,” says Axiom Space astronaut and CTO Koichi Wakata. The collaboration marks Oakley’s first venture into optical tech for space and adds a new chapter to the brand’s legacy of performance innovation.
