Mike Kelley at Tate Modern
An epic, multi-disciplinary art show that delights and confuses.
Mike Kelley’s Ghost and Spirit exhibition at Tate Modern offers a commentary on the intersection of popular culture, personal identity and the darker undercurrents of contemporary life. His unorthodox approach to art and rebellion against traditional forms, uses a mix of media to explore the complexities of memory, nostalgia and the unseen forces that shape both collective and personal consciousness.
I visited this exhibition this weekend, and was delighted by the fusion of chaos and deep meaning in the presentation. His work invites us to look beyond the surface and confront the contradictions that exist within our social fabric. A really well put together show - the first half feels like a more traditional presentation of modern art while the second half of the show explodes with variety, noise and movement.
Mike Kelley: Ghost and Spirit is at The Tate Modern until 09 Mar 25.
