Lego and McLaren
The life-size model was constructed from 342,817 Lego Technic pieces.
Lego models have come a long way, getting bigger and more complex than any of us could’ve dreamed as kids. And for those of us who never really grew up, Lego has teamed up with McLaren to take things to a whole new level—a full-size, drivable P1 supercar made entirely from Lego bricks.
This 1:1 scale P1 isn’t just for show. It’s built from 342,817 Lego Technic pieces, including 393 different types, with 11 parts custom-made just for this model. The best part? It actually works. Despite being made of plastic bricks, it tips the scales at 2,690 pounds—almost 400 pounds lighter than the real car. The build took 23 designers, engineers, and builders a total of 8,344 hours to bring to life.
For those of us still obsessed with Lego, this is the ultimate dream—proof that no matter how old you get, there’s always room to dream big (and build even bigger). Lego and McLaren have shown us that sometimes, the coolest toys are the ones we get to play with as grown-ups.
