Heatherwick Studio has released its first eyewear collection for Japanese brand Jins, four frame shapes in resin or titanium whose undulating surfaces reference the ripple of water rather than the clean geometry most frames default to, so the frames read as slightly irregular and softened at the edges, the kind of object that rewards looking at closely rather than simply wearing. Executive partner Stuart Wood described glasses as deeply intimate objects that too often feel generic and detached from the face they sit on, which is a fair point and a reasonable brief to design from.
