Graffiti icon 10Foot takes over Big Issue
With an interview with elusive London writer TOX by Banksy.
This edition of The Big Issue came out on 17th March, but this isn't your typical issue. For the first time ever, the magazine has handed over editorial control to graffiti legend 10Foot, creating what's certain to be a collector's item.
Priced at £4, Issue 1658 assembles an impressive roster of street art royalty. Most notably, Banksy interviews elusive London writer TOX, a conversation that brings together two of the most significant names in British urban art.
The special edition doesn't stop there. It features the first-ever published photographs from documentarian Bas DDS and a rare interview with Fume, who's remained largely silent since the notorious Bomb Alert of 2003. Irish rap troublemakers Kneecap also make an appearance, fresh from their Sundance Film Festival success.
Rather brilliantly, 10Foot has ditched the usual corporate adverts in favour of features on grassroots initiatives like London's organic gardens, alongside projects such as Soulseek, ROTI JOUPA, and work by grime producer Jon E Cash.
This limited-run publication represents a fascinating cultural crossover. A magazine sold by people experiencing homelessness now amplifies voices from the urban art world that typically remain outside mainstream media channels.
For street art enthusiasts and regular Big Issue readers alike, this edition offers something genuinely special, a tangible document where underground culture meets social enterprise without either compromising their values.
