More than a decade after disappearing from the high street, Blockbuster is making a comeback, kind of. The iconic video rental store is returning for a limited-time pop-up in collaboration with KitKat, running from April 9 to April 12 to promote the their new sharing bars.
Visitors can step back in time, browsing through physical video cases, a rare sight in the age of streaming giants like Netflix, hoping there’s some of those old-school film graphics.
Once a global powerhouse with over 9,000 stores, Blockbuster collapsed after failing to keep up with the shift to digital, shutting its UK locations by 2013.
Today, only one store remains: The Last Blockbuster in Oregon, a nostalgia-fueled relic of the ‘90s that still draws tourists and die-hard movie lovers.
