While I wouldn’t recommend drinking alcohol as a go-to way of overcoming tech addiction, it is refreshing to see a company encouraging people to be more present IRL. Heineken’s The Boring Mode app, which limits smartphone features, aims to pull users away from screens and back into real-life interactions.
This app follows Heineken’s earlier release of the The Boring Phone with Bodega earlier in the year, a limited-function phone designed to make nights out less about scrolling and more about connecting.
Heineken’s nudge toward in-person connection is a smart reminder of the value in disconnecting digitally to reconnect personally.
